Configuration on the router

Find the IP of your router (generally 10.1.1.1 or 192.168.0.1) and access it by its browser.

Wireless Configuration panel always choose hybrid modes, as for example b/g or b/g/n. This ensures that it will be compatible with the various types of network cards.

Another important detail is the channel. The default router is the channel 6. But, If there are too many connections with the same channel the level of interference is too large. So choose some other number, for example 1 or 11. Please Feel Free To, also, a scan on the available networks and get each channel. It helps to choose a channel less used.

But don't forget: whenever you configure the router to restart it so that modifications will be used.

Windows XP

Windows XP, up to SP2, does not recognize the WPA2 encryption method. The system simply ignores this method. Therefore you will not be able to decrypt the password to access your Wireless network, If this is protected in this method.

A solution to this problem, first, is to install the update identified as KB893357. Or, If you prefer, update to SP3.
